From Hiding to Leading: Rebuilding My Edge, Publicly
There’s a moment most men won’t talk about. The moment you step on the scale, see the number, and whisper, “What the f*ck happened?”
Last year, I was in Bali on my honeymoon, weighing 179 pounds at 18% body fat. I wasn’t shredded, but I felt lean, confident, and proud. It wasn’t by accident though, I had been executing, religiously following a fitness plan from my own coach, and living what I preached to my clients. I left for that trip thinking, “We. Are. Back.”
But when I came home, I doubled down, investing over $10,000 in a high-ticket concierge coaching program that promised it all: DNA testing, lab work, concierge support, meal planning on the fly. I believed in investing in myself. I believed this would be the game-changer.
At first, it made sense: reverse dieting, building metabolism back up after a deficit. But it didn’t go as planned. Three months in, I was 198 pounds at 22.9% body fat. I wasn’t binging or ignoring the plan. I was following every protocol, taking every supplement, checking every box. And still, I kept gaining.
After 6 months, I was over 200 pounds again, the heaviest I’d been in years, and I felt like a fraud. How could I lead men to reclaim their health when I was silently losing mine? I saw a meme of Red Skull saying, “I guide others to a treasure I cannot possess,” and it hit me like a brick. That was me.
I started hiding: from social media, from my clients, from the mirror, from myself. Every time I thought about posting, I heard the voice: “Why would anyone listen to you?” I know I’m not a fraud, I've helped men lose 20+ pounds regularly and reclaim control of their lives, but those voices grew louder every day. This wasn’t just about weight. It was an identity crisis. The man who led from the front for over a decade... was just trying to keep it together.
I built my business on results, not hype, not hustle, not influencer bullshit. Real systems that led to real wins. And while my clients were dropping 20, 30, even 60 pounds, I was silently watching my own scale climb.
That’s when I decided I was done hiding. No more “I’ll fix it in private and come back when I’m lean.” No more avoiding the camera or tugging at my shirt before calls. I am running the Engineered Fitness Blueprint on myself, in real time.
Not because I need to prove it works, but because I need to remind myself that it does.
This is not a quick shred or a 75 Hard reboot. This isn’t a temporary fix. This is about reclaiming the identity of a man who doesn’t hide. A man whose body matches the mission, the career, and the leadership he’s built everywhere else.
Because if this system works for me, while I coach, build a business, navigate a 9–5, and live a life that’s anything but predictable, then it will work for you too.
If you’re reading this thinking, “Man, I feel that,” know this: You’re not alone. You’re not as far off as you think. But waiting for “the right time” will cost you more than you realize. The world doesn’t slow down. The projects won’t disappear. The kids won't suddenly stop getting sick. The chaos won’t clear. The only way out is through.
If you’re tired of starting over, tired of feeling like your energy, focus, and confidence don’t match the man you are, this is your wake-up call.
It’s time to stop hiding.
It’s time to lead again.
If you’re ready to reclaim your edge and align your body with your life, take a moment to reflect on what needs to change. Let this be the reminder to take one small, real action today that aligns your health with your leadership. Because the change you’re looking for won’t happen tomorrow unless you start building it today.
